VP Robredo graced Students Assembly
Vice President of the Philippines attends the Student Assembly conducted by the NOrSU Federation of Student Government (NOrSU-FSG) held at the University Gymnasium on August 25.
VP Maria Leonor "Leni" Gerona Robredo, as the Guest Speaker of the gathering, did not let down the hopes of the all the students present in the event as she was able to come and join them. The VP’s presence was subsequent to the invitation given by the FSG President Kristin Rose Pening.
On her speech, the VP emphasized the importance of education and how it affects the lives of people considering the issues we are currently facing in our country such as that of drugs, crime and etc. “Education is the ultimate game changer”, she added.
VP Robredo also expressed her desires aimed at the university in equating education to job after school. She stressed that it should be aimed not only to give quality education to the students but the administration should also make sure that education do equate jobs after they finished studying at the university.
The Vice President ended her speech and left an important message to all, saying "Hindi tayo magkaka-away. Ang kaaway natin ay kahirapan. Kung hindi tayo magkakampi-kampi, hindi natin malalabanan ang kahirapan."
Nonetheless, the coming of the VP to NORSU came to be a peaceful one. It was attended by the University Key Officials, Deans, Office Directors and Chairman, Faculty, Staff and Students.
