Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) held its annual orientation for freshmen, shiftees, and transferees, in coordination with the Counseling Assessment Resources Enhancement (CARE) Center, headed by the office Director, Annie Rose S. Taguba, at the university's Sports and Cultural Complex, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The first batch of the orientation was conducted on September 05, 2024, with the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, College of Criminal Justice Education, College of Engineering and Architecture, and College of Tourism & Hospitality Management. While the second batch was attended by the College of Business Administration, College of Industrial Technology, College of Nursing, Pharmacy, & Allied Health Sciences, and College of Teacher Education on September 09, 2024.
Among the major topics discussed with the students were NORSU's facilities, services, rules and policies, Student Affairs Services, National Service Training Program (NSTP), Environmental Management, Gender and Development, Library Services, Registrar Policies, Dental Services, Medical and Health Services, Arts and Cultural Services, CARE Services, and University Security Services, and Student Government.
The said orientation was attended by the NORSU key officials, Dr. Noel E. Yasi, University President, Dr. Merivic G. Catada, Vice-President for Administration and Finance, Dr. Rose Marie T. Pinili, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, deans, heads of the different offices, faculty, and staff.
Dr. Yasi highlighted three Ds for the students in his speech: Discipline, Determination, and Desire, as a guide to their academic journey with NORSU.
