Negros Oriental State University met with the Department of Science and Technology Provincial Science Technology Office today at the University Boardroom for the Orientation of the Building Strong and Empowerment Communities in the Province of Negros Oriental through the Community Empowerment thru Science & Technology (CEST) Development Approach- Phase II project and turnover of project fund.
NORSU, as the implementing agency, received the total project cost of Php2,355,500.00 from DOST Provincial Science and Technology Director Atty. Gilbert R. Arbon. University President Noel Marjon E. Yasi, together with VP for Admin and Finance Dr. Merivic G. Catada, VP for Research, Innovation, Development and Extension Dr. Edwin F. Romano, Jr., and Dr. Guilbert A. Nicanor, Director for University Extension were in attendance during the meeting.
Among the important matters discussed was the duration of the project implementation from September 2024 to September 2025. The CEST aims to enhance agricultural sustainability in Negros Oriental, focusing on goat dairy and salt production. It will also provide technical expertise, upgraded technologies, and training to support farmers in Zamboanguita and Manjuyod.
Various project methodologies will be implemented, such as 1) Silage Production; 2) Milk Pasteurization; 3) Salt Washer; and 4) Spin Dryer.
