Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) President Dr. Noel Marjon E. Yasi stressed his strong desire to bring the university into the world ranking with deans and students’ cooperation at the “University Futures and Strategic Foresight towards World Ranking Initiatives” at Rovira Suites, Dumaguete City, on October 14 to 15, 2024.
“So, may the good work continue to encourage us; I’m just trying to encourage you, and this is one way to bring us to the higher level," said Dr. Yasi.
He emphasized that there should be no student left behind as they journey towards their chosen field because they are being trained with relevant, effective, and up-to-date skills to become successful professionals.
This activity was conducted to strategically plan methods and approaches for NORSU to be able to compete internationally.
Dr. Aldrin A. Darilag, former CHED Commissioner and one of the quest speakers, emphasized that one thing to achieve this is to continue producing successful graduates by following the Fourth Industrial Revolution (FIRe) in education approach. This is to prepare students for the cyber-physical system and smart technology.
Moreover, he also advocates for the excellence and quality standard for revitalizing higher education and hopes that this activity will become an avenue for continuous striving for better service to learners as well as to deans.
Dr. Adrian Ybañez, Vice President for Research and Development of Cebu Technological University (CTU), and one of the guest speakers, highlighted that "Futures" means that there are several possibilities that can happen depending on how you react today and work forward, while "Strategic Foresight" allows you to make strategies and certain actions towards that plan, which are linked in bringing NORSU into what it desires for the future.
Dr. Craig Refugio, Director of International Relations, visualize the future of NORSU being ranked globally, which will give prestige and a good reputation through the successful implementation of this strategic planning.
