Negros Oriental State University librarians from the main campus and external campuses attended a one-day Newsletter Writing Workshop entitled Keys to Compelling Newsletters and Building a Lasting Connection held on November 26, 2024 , at the University Library Conference Hall, Negros Oriental State University Main Campus, Dumaguete City.
The training aimed to equip the participants with the skills and insights needed to create newsletters that are visually appealing, rich in content, clear in messaging , and impactful. Library newsletters will enhance the visibility of library programs, strengthen relationships with stakeholders , and establish connections between libraries.
Speakers during the training were Dr. Sonia Sygaco, Dr. Sami Khayat, Ms. Richelle Lou Davido , Ms. Djerica Mate, Ms. Royanni Miel Hontucan, Mr. Jazzie Ocao , and Ms. Gherelene Mae Rafols, all from the Communication Department of the university. Topics discussed were Newsworthy and Relevance of Stories, Captions of Pictures and Titling, Lead Writing, Principles of Newswriting and Ethics, Feature Writing, and Structure of News Writing and Newsletter Layout.
Dr. Colette O. Abequibel, NORSU University Librarian spearheaded the training attended by the librarians from NORSU Main campus 1 and 2, Bais Campus, Mabinay, Pamplona, Guihulngan, Siaton , and Bayawan-Sta. Catalina Campus.
