HISTORY
The Bachelor of Science program that would become NORSU’s Geology degree began as an initiative during the Central Visayas Polytechnic College (CVPC) era. It was formulated in 1994 under then-CVPC President Henry A. Sojor, Ph.D., initially proposed as Bachelor of Science in Vulcanology (BOT Resolution No. 7, s. 1994) to address regional needs for volcanic and earth-science expertise. Dr. Sojor’s leadership in the 1990s helped expand CVPC’s academic offerings during a period of institutional growth.
