NORSU Bais Campus is composed of two sub- campuses located in the city of Bais. NORSU Bais Campus I is located in San Jose, Bais City and NORSU Bais Campus II is in Taveras Street, Bais City. It is formerly known as Bais School of Fisheries in 1972. NORSU Bais Campus is located 40 kilometers North from Dumaguete City.
NORSU Bais Campus offers the following courses: Associate in Information Technology, Associate in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Arts in General Curriculum, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration,Associate in Secretarial Science, Bachelor of Science in Office Systems Management, Associate in Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education, Bachelor of Science in Criminology, Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology, Associate in Industrial Technology and Associate in Medical, Dental, and Nursing Assistant.
BAIS CAMPUS I
On June 18, 1966, the Bais School of Fisheries was authorized by virtue of Republic Act No. 4845. It was established, under the direct supervision of the Director of Vocational Education, a school of fisheries in Barrio Okiot, Municipality of Bais, Province of Negros Oriental, to be known as the Bais School of Fisheries.
By virtue of Batas Pambansa No. 401 that was signed into law by President Ferdinand E. Marcos on June 10, 1983, the Central Visayas Polytechnic College came into being (CVPC). The state college was the merger of three government institutions in Negros Oriental, namely the EVSAT, the Bais School of Fisheries, and the Guihulngan Vocational School in Guihulngan. Then Bais School of Fisheries is named as CVPC Bais Campus.
Through Republic Act No. 9299 converted Central Visayas Polytechnic College (CVPC) into Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) on June 25, 2004. And the integrating three other colleges in the province; namely, Genaro Goñi Memorial College in the City of Bais, the Siaton Community College in the Municipality of Siaton, and the Mabinay Institute of Technology in the Municipality. CVPV Bais Campus is now named NORSU Bais Campus I because there is already two Campus in Bais City.
BAIS CAMPUS II
Negros Oriental State University, Bais Campus 2 was formerly named Genaro Goñi Memorial College and Bais Developmental College. The establishment of Bais Developmental College (BADECO) was an avenue for fulfilling the dreams of poor Baisanons who aspired for higher education. The idea of establishing a locally funded public college came from the petition of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the Bais City High School headed by the PTA president, Mr. Luciano Benlota, Sr. The City Mayor Genaro Goñi, supported the petition of the PTA to establish a locally funded public college and endorsed the proposal to the City Council.
The City Council approved Sangguniang Panlungsod Resolution No. 168, on October 19, 1978, establishing Bais Developmental College (BADECO). On June 9, 1980, BADECO started to operate with the following courses: Electrical Technology, Automotive Technology, and Agricultural Technology. The college started with only thirty-two students. The three classes that were organized used the same campus and building of Bais City High School for their classes. While the high school students have their classes in the daytime, college students on the other hand attend night classes. The school administrator, Mr. Paciencio Rosalem Sr. who was at the same time the principal of Bais City High School, managed the day-to-day administrative matters of the college. Mr. Benjamin S. Cañete succeeded Mr. Paciencio Rosalem, Sr. as School Administrator when the latter retired from office.
On November 27, 1992, Ordinance No. 22 entitled “An Ordinance Renaming Bais Developmental College in Bais City to Genaro Goñi Memorial College” was approved by the City Council in pursuance to Section 13, Chapter 2 of the Local Government Code of 1991 and as Recommended by the local school board in its Resolution No. 7, dated November 18, 1992. On May 17, 2000, the City Council resolved to enact Ordinance No. 7, series of 2000 confirming the creation of the then Bais Developmental College, now Genaro Goñi Memorial College in order to give a permanent status and affirm all its legal acts.
On June 10, 2004, the bicameral congress approved Republic Act No. 9299, which converted Central Visayas Polytechnic College into a state university, integrating Genaro Goni Memorial College, Siaton Community College, and Mabinay Institute of Technology.
