Catalina Campus, initiated by ๐๐ณ. ๐๐ณ๐ข๐ฏ๐ค๐ช๐ด ๐. ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฐ๐ฏ, Campus Director for Research (NORSU - BSC), whose faculty and staff took a deep dive into the exciting world of spatial data and mapping technologies. During the two-day training, participants discovered that maps arenโt just the paper youโve usually seenโtheyโre powerful tools for seeing patterns, planning solutions, and transforming communities as technology evolves. Attendees got hands-on with data collection, analysis, and visualization, turning complex information into clear insights through the thorough guidance and expertise of ๐๐ณ. ๐๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ช๐ด๐ช๐ฐ ๐. ๐๐ข๐ต๐ต๐ข๐ฅ, DOST Balik Scientist Awardee. The three-day training immersed participants in hands-on sessions on patent searching using recognized databases and practical techniques in drafting patent claims, descriptions, and drawings. The workshop challenged faculty members to transform their research ideas into concrete patent and utility model drafts ready for potential filing, bridging the gap between innovation and protection.
Faculty members from the Guihulngan, Bais, Mabinay, Pamplona, and Siaton campuses, together with the heads of specialized centers, actively engaged in the activity. The training specifically aimed to boost patent participation in campuses with lower filing rates, as well as empowering educators to be confident in protecting and maximizing their innovations.

These exchanges guided them in crafting strategies that would ensure relevance, responsiveness, and sustainability of future research initiatives.
This was attended by faculty, researchers, directors, administrators, industry partners, and community representatives. The gathering provided a collaborative platform for sharing perspectives, aligning goals, and reinforcing the universityโs role in advancing research-based solutions for societal development. The active participation of stakeholders underscored the collective commitment to innovation and academic excellence.
