The research-based extension project on EDGE-LaC (Equity in Designing Gender-responsive Education through Language and Communication) culminates yesterday, March 4, 2026, in honor of the Women’s Month.
The two-month project was carefully designed to reach the most crucial site of learning – the classroom:
•January 16 – Launching
•January 21, February 4 – Seminar-Workshop on
1) Gender and Education
2) Gender-Responsive Basic Education Policy (DepEd Order No. 32, s. 2017) and
3) Making Gender-responsiveness Visible in the Lesson
•February 11, 18, 25 – GAD-Integrated Lesson Planning
•March 4 – Lesson Demonstration in the Classroom and Culmination
The extension project was made possible through the partnership between NORSU-Graduate School and CAS and San Jose Provincial High School (SJPHS).
The project headed by Dr. Priscilla S. Cielo was facilitated by Mr. Jazzie Ocao, Ms. Royanni Miel Hontucan, Dr. Krester M. Diaz, Dr. Nova Ness Carin-Despi, Ms. Tasha Maxine Bulado, Mr. Donald S. Torres, Dr. Catherine Eliaga, Dr. Marissa Salgado, Ms. Sweet Marisse Alcansado, Ms. Chyril Eullaran, and Mr. John Matthew Granada.
The NORSU-CAS thanks the Junior High School teachers of SJPHS and its School Principal Mrs. Esther M. Villarin for actively engaging in the training that resulted in evidently gender-responsive lessons.
