Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) officially commenced Day 1 of the Technology Promotion Mentorship Series (TPMS) Re-Echo Training Workshop today, April 21, 2026. The event aims to empower NORSU Technology Inventors with the tools necessary to bridge the gap between academic innovation and public consumption.
The workshop opened with a Welcome Remarks from Dr. Edwin F. Romano, Jr., Acting Vice-President for Research, Development, and Extension (RDE). His address underscored the university’s commitment to not only producing high-quality research but ensuring that such technology is effectively promoted and utilized by the community.
The morning session, titled "Technology Pitching and IECs," was led by Dr. Johann Heinrich P. Malongo, Unit Head of Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IPTBM) and a National TPMS Graduate. Dr. Malongo’s sessions focused on two critical pillars of modern technology transfer:

Visual Storytelling & IEC Development: A deep dive into creating Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials that transform complex data into engaging visual narratives.
The afternoon shifted focus toward content creation and integrity under the theme "Effective and Ethical IEC Crafting." On behalf of Prof. Geraldine S. Quiñones, Ethics Committee Chair and National TPMS Graduate, Mr. Louie B. Cabilin, IPTBM Project Staff, spearheaded discussions on the evolving landscape of digital communication. Key topics included:
Writing Effective Captions
AI in Writing
Ethics and Copyright in Photography
The first day concluded with a comprehensive wrap-up session, leaving participants equipped with fresh perspectives on how to advocate for their technological breakthroughs. The TPMS Re-Echo series serves as a vital link in NORSU's mission to turn university-led research into real-world solutions.
