Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) Department of Psychology hosted a significant event, ALIMPATAKAN 2026: Seminar & IPR Activity, on May 7, 2026.
Held at the NORSU Main Campus I Sports & Cultural Complex, the event carried the timely theme: "Strong Minds, Strong Support: Promoting Balance, Help-Seeking, and Psychological First-Aid among Youth." The seminar brought together students, faculty, and mental health advocates to foster a culture of resilience and communal support.
The participants were warmly welcomed by Ms Mary Dawn I. Valencia, MAPsych, LPT, RPM, Chairperson of the NORSU Psychology Department, who emphasized the university's commitment to nurturing not just academic excellence, but the psychological well-being of its students.
The seminar featured two vital sessions led by expert resource speakers:
Balancing School and Life: Ms. Ma. Hezel B. Eumague, RGC, led a deep dive into promoting healthy help-seeking behaviors. Her session focused on breaking the stigma associated with asking for help and provided practical strategies for students to maintain equilibrium between rigorous academic demands and personal life.
Building Support Systems: Ms.Sabinita P. Condicion, RGC, delivered a session titled "Look, Listen, Link." This segment focused on the fundamentals of Psychological First Aid, equipping attendees with the tools to identify signs of distress in their peers and provide meaningful, immediate support
Ross Kendall C. Baya, President of the NORSU Psychology Interns, delivered the closing remarks. He highlighted that "Alimpatakan" serves as a reminder that a strong mind is built through both individual resilience and a supportive community.
