Today, September 3, 2024, Dr. Teresito C. Bacolcol, Director IV of DOST PHIVOLCS, delivered two lectures at Negros Oriental State University.
Director Bacolcol initially discussed GPS movements linked to the recent earthquakes in the Philippines during a session with 3rd and 4th year students majoring in Geology and Geothermal Engineering. During the afternoon session, his lecture is on Disaster Resilience and the involvement of DOST-PHIVOLCS. The audience includes Vice Presidents, Deans, Department Chairs, and faculty members of the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
The aforementioned lectures intend to enlighten the NORSU community on the importance of readiness, the core of scientific research and cooperation, disaster assessment, and technologies that help in rescuing lives and the consequences of natural calamities.
The Geology Department organized this lecture with Dr. Craig N. Refugio, who is the Director of the Office of International Linkages and the Acting Director of the Office of University Research.
