The World Tourism Month Celebration opening ceremony was held yesterday, September 18, 2024, with the theme "Tourism and Peace" at the Negros Oriental State University's (NORSU) Gymnasium.

The event was organized by the Provincial Tourism Office along with the Tourism and Hospitality Educators Council of Negros Oriental and Siquijor (THECNOS). Participating schools included St. Paul University Dumaguete, Metro Dumaguete College, Foundation University, Asian College, Colegio de Sta.Catalina de Alejandria (COSCA),STI College, Team Skills and Piapi High School and Negros Oriental State University.

In addition to the opening ceremony, competitions took place. NORSU claimed first place in Tour Guiding (Domestic) and second place in Tour Guiding (International), Tour Package Making Competition, and Tourism Quiz Bee.
