In line with the World Teachers' Day Celebration 2024, Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) held its Institutional World Teachers' Day Celebration today, October 4, 2024, with the theme "Empowering NORSUnian Educators: MAY DATING AT MAY GALING."

Vice President for Admin and Finance, Dr. Merivic G. Catada, said in her welcome address that the theme speaks volumes about NORSU's commitment to providing teachers with the support, resources, and recognition they deserve.

The event began with a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. Clyde B. Flores, followed by an academic convocation. The guest speaker for the event was Dr. Emily M. Ramos-Arangote, the former President of Aklan State University, formally introduced by Dr. Rose Marie T. Pinili, the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Dr. Arangote showed four different pictures of papaya plants, metaphorically comparing them to the faculties. She stated, "Kahit saan ka d'yan, anuman ang katayuan ng NORSU bumunga ka. Have an output and glitter, have an outcome for NORSU."

"Be that papaya na punong-puno ng bunga, after all, this is your bread and butter. Mahalin niyo ang NORSU..." she added. Moreover, Dr. Arangote also shared some tips for a healthy work-life balance in her talk.

In his inspirational message, University President Dr. Noel Marjon E. Yasi said, "Teacher's Day is not just a day, it's a heartfelt tribute and dedication to the passion and unwavering commitment of educators who light our path to our future."

The academic convocation was followed by a fellowship luncheon. In collaboration with NORSUFFA, members of the faculty were treated to pampering activities such as haircuts, foot and back massage and nail care later in the afternoon. Talent showdown and fun activities followed in the afternoon.
