In line with the university's vision to be "a globally recognized state university," Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) successfully completed a two-day orientation on the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and Times Higher Education (THE) World Rankings today, March 7, at the NORSU ST AVR.
The first day of orientation featured a talk entitled "Towards a World-Class University," with Gaudencio C. Petalcorin, Jr., Ph.D., University Focal Person for Global Reputation from Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology, as the guest speaker for this event. Dr. Petalcorin expressed full support for NORSU's goal of becoming a "Philippine World-Class University."
The talk was followed by three separate lecture workshops on: (1) The Impact Rankings SDG 1-9, (2) The Impact Rankings SDG 10-17, and (3) QS Asia Rankings.
University President Dr. Noel Marjon E. Yasi, in his message, hoped that everyone would share the same mindset and direction as that of the university. "Because once we achieve our vision of being globally recognized, it’s all-encompassing that people will truly recognize us", Dr Yasi said.
Before the event concluded, Dr. Craig N. Refugio, University International Relations Director, distributed commitment forms to all assigned focal persons for each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in compliance with the World Rankings submission entry.
