The unveiling of the Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IPTBM) office, held yesterday, May 22, 2025, was attended by distinguished guests from the academe, partner government agencies, and cooperatives. Dr. Johann Heinrich P. Malongo, Project Leader of NORSU IPTBM, delivered the welcome remarks and the rationale for the project. He stated that it is a vital step in the collective journey to bring innovation closer to the people.
In her message of support, Dr. Angeline B. Elegio, Program Leader of the Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Central Visayas and Regional IPTBM Project Leader, emphasized that NORSU will always have the support of RAISE 7 in all its initiatives related to innovation and technology. Mr. Noel A. Catibog, Technology Transfer and Promotion Division (TTPD) Director of the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARD), expressed his gratitude to NORSU for their long-standing partnership. He is hopeful that the IPTBM of NORSU will continue to lead in managing the Intellectual Property (IP) assets of the university.
The program was followed by the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon, led by the University President, Dr. Noel Marjon E. Yasi. With him were CHED Commissioner Shirley C. Agrupis and Mr. Noel Catibog of DOST. The signing of the Technology Licensing Agreement (TLA), the unveiling of the IPTBM mark, and the reading of its citation highlighted the ceremony.
In his message, Dr. Yasi reiterated NORSU's commitment to all projects and expressed his anticipation for more collaboration and partnerships that will bring progress to the academic community and the nation. Additionally, Central Visayas Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CVAARREC) Director Dr. Ivy Corazon A. Mangaya-ay encouraged everyone to synergize their resources and serve the community.
The closing remarks was delivered by Dr. Merivic G. Catada, Vice President for Administration and Finance, who expressed her appreciation to all the guests for witnessing a remarkable milestone at NORSU.
