Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) hosted a three-day Gender and Development (GAD) symposium from September 15 to 17, 2025, at the NORSU Sports and Cultural Complex. The event offered students a comprehensive understanding of gender-related issues.
September 15: The symposium began with a lecture and forum on the Safe Spaces Act (R.A. 11313). Organized by the Gender and Development Office, the opening day was attended by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), Dr. Priscilla S. Cielo , and Associate Dean Dr. Catherine T. Ellaga. Prof. Kenneth Emmanuelle Bana-ay served as the resource speaker for the fourth-year CAS students.
September 16-17: The event continued with a focus on Basic Gender and Development Concepts for all first-year students from all colleges. These sessions included various speakers and interactive open forums.
This three-day event highlighted NORSU's commitment to promoting gender equality and equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable development, both within and outside the university.
