The Negros Oriental State University (NORSU), represented by University President Hon. Noel Marjon E. Yasi, and the Local Government Unit of Bayawan City, represented by City Mayor Hon. John T. Raymond, Jr., formally forged a partnership to implement the extension program “Future Farmers and Forest Guardians: Youth for Green Leadership.” The program, launched on August 22, 2025, is being conducted in Barangay Cansumalig, Bayawan City, with the MOA signing held at the Barangay Cansumalig Gymnasium.
Present during the signing ceremony from NORSU were: Hon. Noel Marjon E. Yasi, University President; Dr. Merivic G. Catada, Vice President for Administration and Finance; Dr. Guilbert Nicanor Atillo, University Extension Director; Dr. Liza J. Caballero, Assistant Director for Academics, Student Affairs, Research, and Extension; Dr. Francis M. Galon, Assistant Director for Administration and Finance and Project Leader; Dr. Ma. Milagros J. Belsondra, Campus Extension Coordinator; and Dr. Ruel T. Tubongbanua, CAF Faculty Member and Program Chair.
Representing Bayawan City were City Councilor Luis J. Sumalpong, Chair of the Agriculture Committee; Engr. Kenneth S. Artes, City Agriculturist; and Hon. Elbien P. Belando, Barangay Captain of Cansumalig.
The extension program is set to culminate on December 12, 2025, marking the completion of its capacity-building activities for youth participants in sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, and community leadership.
