Fifteen international volunteer students visited Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) from February 2, 2026, through the collaboration of the Office of University International Relations with the Global Initiative for Exchange & Development (GIED).
The Midterm Evaluation Seminar for the volunteer students was conducted at the NORSU Pamplona Campus in Pamplona, Negros Oriental. The students were warmly welcomed by Dr. Ryan Tayco, Campus Director.
German and Austrian student volunteers attended the seminar facilitated by NORSU in collaboration with Dr. Craig Refugio, Director of the Office of University International Relations.
A series of lectures and workshops were delivered, including Mental Health and the Role of Culture, Mental Healthcare in the Workplace in the Philippines, Basic Gender and Development, and Intercultural Learning and Experiences. These sessions highlighted cultural differences, conflict resolution, and the journey of change.
The lectures and workshops were conducted by resource speakers from various fields of expertise, including Dr. Chizanne S. Larena, Dean of the Graduate School; Dr. Apollo Marr Bugay, Instructor of the Psychology Department; Dr. Aileen Felix, Director of the Gender and Development Center; and Mr. Jazzie Ocao, Chairperson of the Communication Department.
