To kick off a month-long celebration of women's resilience and leadership, the Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) Gender and Development Center officially launched National Women’s Month 2026 today, March 4.

The event, held at the NORSU Sports & Cultural Complex, centers on the theme: "WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society."

Recognizing the pressures faced by young women in the institution and activism, the launching program featured a lecture titled "Women’s Mental Health and Leadership Burnout for Student Leaders." The session was led by Ma. Hezel B. Eumague, RGC, a Guidance Counselor from Silliman University (SU). Ms. Eumague’s lecture addressed the importance of maintaining mental well-being while navigating the demands of campus leadership, providing students with practical tools to combat burnout.

The program began with a warm welcome from Mr. Julio E. Ventolero, MTE, MMM, Director of University Student Development Services. The session concluded with a lively trivia segment and an open forum, allowing students to engage directly with the speakers regarding gender equality and mental health advocacy.

A practical application through Workshops and Presentations followed thereafter, where theoretical discussions turned into actionable strategies that student leaders can implement within their respective organizations.

Ms. Maria L. Barillo, MBA, CBA GAD Coordinator, formally closed the program, and reiterated the university's commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where every "NORSUian" can thrive regardless of gender.
