The Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) Geology and Physics Department celebrated a historic milestone on April 8, 2026, at the Plaza Maria Suites Inn, hosting its first-ever Hard Hatting and Vesting Ceremony. Under the theme “Mapping Dreams, One Layer at a Time,” the event honored 62 geology students—comprising graduating seniors, internship completers, and incoming interns—by presenting them with their ceremonial hard hats, pins, and vests.
Dr. Merivic Catada, Vice President for Administration and Finance, served as the keynote speaker. She shared a moving narrative of resilience, urging students to look "beyond the bedrock" and remain steadfast in their goals. Dr. Catada emphasized that being a "Norsunian" is a brand defined by integrity and professionalism that should be carried throughout their careers.
Following this, Dr. Priscilla Cielo, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, delivered an inspirational message centered on the “3 G’s”: Grit, Growth, and Glory. She reminded the future geologists that while the field is demanding, success is built on the foundation of perseverance and continuous self-improvement.
