CHED-NIR, in collaboration with NORSU Main Campus, conducted a Virtual Regional Capacity Building on GAD Curriculum Integration on April 29, 2026, to strengthen GAD institutionalization in public and private HEIs across the region.

The Commission on Higher Education – Negros Island Region (CHED-NIR), in collaboration with Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) Main Campus, conducted a Virtual Regional Capacity Building on GAD Curriculum Integration on April 29, 2026. The event aimed to reinforce the institutionalization of Gender and Development (GAD) principles across public and private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the region.

The webinar focused on the implementation of CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 1, series of 2015, which mandates the integration of gender perspectives into the academic curriculum and organizational structures.

Among the HEIs, Negros Oriental State University (NORSU), together with State University of Northern Negros (SUNN), were selected to share their best practices in the implementation of GAD initiatives within their institution.

The key objectives of the activity were to align monitoring and evaluation processes with national GAD mandates, provide practical methods to incorporate a "GAD lens" into professional and general education courses, and learn from the successful mainstreaming experiences of other CHED Regional Offices.

The event served as a vital platform for GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) members and Focal Persons to gain insights and technical assistance to ensure regional compliance and social inclusivity.
