To strengthen campus safety and emergency response, the Fourth-Year Bachelor of Science in Nursing students of Negros Oriental State University (NORSU), under the Disaster Nursing course, are launching a series of intensive disaster simulation exercises this week.
A key highlight of the program is the integration of professional emergency responders. The students will be working alongside elite units to ensure the simulations are as realistic and strategically sound as possible. Participating agencies include:
Philippine National Police (PNP) — Explosive Detection and Ordinance K9 Unit, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Traffic Management Office (TMO). The training kicked off with a Tabletop Exercise held on April 29, 2026, at the CAS AVR. This session allowed students and agency representatives to map out response protocols, communication chains, and tactical strategies before moving into physical drills.
