As part of a major initiative to update academic and administrative management, Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) convened its key officials and committee members today, June 10, 2026, for the Review and Finalization of the Revised University Code.

The day-long event was held at the TipTop Hotel, Dumaguete City. The workshop aimed to meticulously evaluate, refine, and finalize the structural and operational guidelines that govern the state university.

The event commenced with opening remarks from Dr. Merivic G. Catada, Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF), who also laid out the rationale of the activity. Dr. Catada highlighted the strategic importance of a cohesive and updated University Code in steering the institution toward greater academic excellence, transparency, and administrative efficiency.

A comprehensive overview of the draft was initiated by Ms. Ma. Cristina J. Malto, VPAF Legal Assistant, who led the Presentation of the University Code. This briefing set the stage for the Workshop Proper and Committee Review Sessions, facilitated by the VPAF Office.

During the workshop, participants split into specialized committees to dissect specific sections of the revised code, ensuring that all policies align with national standards and the university's core mission.

The afternoon session focused on the presentation of committee recommendations. Representatives from each group presented their proposed amendments, leading to collaborative deliberations and the submission of outputs.

The event concluded with closing remarks, marking a successful milestone in NORSU's ongoing commitment to institutional development and strong governance.
