To mark the start of the new academic year, Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) welcomed its freshmen, shiftees, and transferees during an orientation assembly held today, July 20, at the NORSU Sports and Cultural Complex.

Spearheaded by the University Student Welfare Services under the leadership of Director Annie Rose S. Taguba, RGC, RPm, the event aimed to introduce new students to key university policies, as well as essential campus services and facilities.

Throughout the session, university officials introduced and discussed with the new students the key administrative offices, registrar policies, library and student welfare services, student government, and environmental management initiatives. Guidance on campus security, gender and development, arts and cultural programs, and the Online Evaluation for Teaching Effectiveness (OLETE) system was also provided.

Dr. Libertine C. de Guzman, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered the welcome address, assuring students that NORSU provides every learner with the opportunity to succeed.

"NORSU prepares students for life beyond the university," Dr. de Guzman emphasized, reminding students that society expects educated individuals to be not only knowledgeable but also responsible and law-abiding citizens.

Meanwhile, University President Dr. Noel Marjon E. Yasi encouraged students to actively participate in both online and face-to-face classes, maintain a proactive mindset, observe the proper chain of command when addressing concerns, and make full use of the university's available resources throughout their academic journey.
