Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) College of Teacher Education, through Dr. Roullette P. Cordevilla, CTED-MC 1 Dean, shared the University's best practices in teacher education during the SUNBEAMS 2026 Summit for Unified NIR Board Examination Achievement and Management Strategies held today, July 22, 2026, at the University Sports and Cultural Complex.

Dr. Cordevilla presented the University's Challenges, Ways, and Wins in maintaining and surpassing its performance in the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT). She identified the following key challenges: (1) maintaining and improving students' performance, (2) encouraging students to actively participate in review classes to better prepare for the examination, and (3) helping repeaters successfully pass the LEPT.

Among the University's notable achievements, or "wins," are its consistently high LEPT performance, recognition through the CHED EQUATE Awards, recognition of its topnotchers, and its continued inclusion among the country's Top Performing Schools in teacher education (Elementary Category). To sustain these accomplishments, Dr. Cordevilla highlighted the University's best practices, including: (1) the strict implementation of retention policies, (2) the inclusion of Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) classes, and (3) the implementation of zero-based grading for CBA.

Dr. Cordevilla further emphasized that consistency, commitment, and tenacity are essential in addressing these challenges and sustaining the University's high standards in the LEPT.

Also sharing best practices during the summit was Dr. Marlon C. Malacapay, Director of the Review for Licensure Examination Office of Central Philippine State University (CPSU) Main Campus. He discussed the establishment of the University's Review for Licensure Examination Office, located at the Main Campus in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental. The office provides structured academic review programs, review caravans, and cash incentives to graduates who pass Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) licensure examinations. It also supports students and alumni through pre-board examinations and comprehensive review programs that have consistently helped CPSU achieve passing rates above the national average. CHED Regional Director Dr. Raul Alvarez challenged representatives from the participating higher education institutions "to tighten and improve admission policies, focus on faculty development and student services, and perform even better."

The summit formally concluded with a brief open forum following the presentation and sharing of institutional best practices.
