The Negros Oriental State University — Office of the Research, Development, and Extension, in collaboration with the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, University of San Jose-Recoletos, and the University of the Visayas, spearheaded a two-day training event titled "Editorial and Publishing Training: Advancing the NORSU Prism Journal Management and Operations" on August 6–7, 2026, at the NORSU Library Conference Room. Bringing together editors, associate editors, reviewers, researchers, and publication personnel, the event aimed to build a shared commitment to fairness, transparency, accountability, and academic excellence in managing the NORSU Prism journal, while laying the groundwork for developing discipline-specific journals in the future.

The opening day began with opening remarks from Dr. Edwin F. Romano, Jr., Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension, followed by Dr. Albert C. Albina, Head of the University Publication Unit, who presented the training rationale. Dr. Craig N. Refugio, Director of University International Relations and Editor-in-Chief of NORSU Prism, then introduced guest speaker Dr. Agnes C. Sequiño, Director, International Affairs Office of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, who led a comprehensive technical session covering Editorial Management and Governance, the Peer Review Process, and Publication Ethics & Research Integrity.

The day concluded with an Open Forum, allowing participants to engage directly with the resource speaker regarding key challenges in journal governance and ethical publishing.
